Vero Machining Strategist 2016 R1 Windows
SKA and VERO Software announce the arrival of Machining Strategist 2016 R1, which will be even faster. The solution now features the Waveform roughing strategy, a technology that increases material removal rates and tool life. Scheduled for release in late October, this renowned tool stands out for its ease of use in manufacturing environments where programming is done on the shop floor.
Dean Kendall, Machining Strategist Product Manager, states that Waveform grinding is superior to the traditional grinding cycle, which uses a high lateral cutting increment (Ae) and a low vertical cutting increment (Ap). As a result, in the entire grinding process, only a small region of the tool’s cutting area is responsible for removing material, causing premature wear at its tip. “By using fixed lateral increments, in regions where there are changes in the cutting direction, the process is subject to vibrations and, as a result, the cutting effort increases,” he explains.
In the Waveform roughing process, the tool paths maintain a constant cut in all regions of the model, including in regions where there are changes in direction. With smooth movements, vibrations, and cutting stresses are reduced, generating a consistent cut. The result is the possibility of increasing the vertical cutting increment and feed, improving the utilization of machines and tools. “If in the conventional process, we have a high lateral increment and a low vertical increment, with Waveform we can increase the vertical increment and better utilize the tool’s cutting area”. In the conventional process, this would damage the tool when changing direction.
